PARAMUS, NJ —January 15, 2019— Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (BNBMC), a clinical affiliate of Rutgers, has joined the Collective Medical Network as part of a statewide effort led by the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) to combat the opioid epidemic.
Earlier this year, the NJHA partnered with Collective to enable care teams across the state to better monitor opioid prescriptions. The partnership gives NJHA member hospitals, including BNBMC, access to Collective and its ED-specific solution: Collective EDie™ — a real-time, risk-adjusted event notification and care collaboration application.

Collective’s technology has been proven to significantly impact the opioid epidemic. For example, the Collective Platform™ was used as the technical backbone for Washington State’s “ER Is for Emergencies” initiative. A Brookings Institution review of the program found the initiative saved $34 million in ED costs, ED visits declined by 9.9 percent, and ED opioid prescriptions decreased by 24 percent, all in the program’s first year.
Similarly, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska, utilization of Collective combined with statewide prescribing guidelines resulted in a 61 percent reduction in opioid scripts written between 2015 and 2017 and a 47 percent reduction in opioids administered in the ED.
