Collective Medical Technologies Achieves HITRUST CSF Certification to Further Mitigate Risk

Collective Medical Technologies (CMT), the leader in network-driven collaborative care management, today announced that it has, through its EDIE and PreManage applications, earned Certified Status for information security by the Health Information Trust (HITRUST) Alliance. With the HITRUST CSF Certified Status, CMT meets key healthcare regulations and requirements for protecting and securing sensitive private healthcare information.

The HITRUST CSF Certified status indicates that the Collective Medical Technologies’ platform, including both EDIE and PreManage applications, has met industry-defined requirements and is appropriately managing risk. The certification places CMT among an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification. By including federal and state regulations, standards, and frameworks, and by incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.
CMT Achieves HITRUST CSF Certified status

“From day one, we have invested in a deliberately strong security ethos, which is reflected in every application, process, and aspect of our company culture. The HITRUST CSF certification is an outstanding attestation of the diligence of our development, client relations, I.T., and management teams in keeping data private and secure.” said Wylie van den Akker, co-founder and CIO of Collective Medical Technologies.

To successfully complete the HITRUST CSF Certification program, vendors must undergo a rigorous and thorough vetting process consisting of 172 baseline controls across 19 domains, spanning many months and requiring over 500 written ratings and responses. Additionally, vendors must undergo recertification every two years, which is one of the highlights of the HITRUST CSF program, assuring buyers that the security model of any HITRUST vendor is keeping pace with the latest industry advancements. This translates into greater confidence in healthcare organizations and estimated cost savings of $300,000 in audit requests and internal assessment time.

“We’re very excited about receiving HITRUST certification, but there is still more work to be done.  We know new privacy risks and security threats are constantly emerging, which is why we are committed to remaining vigilant against these potential threats and risks. We understand that digital connections provide great power to innovate—and our privacy and security efforts must keep pace with that innovation,” said Travis Smith, President and Chief Operations Officer. “We are committed to proactively safeguarding our customer’s critical infrastructure from unforeseen threats and vulnerabilities.”

“The HITRUST CSF has become the information protection framework for the health care industry, and the CSF Assurance program is bringing a new level of effectiveness and efficiency to third-party assurance,” said Ken Vander Wal, Chief Compliance Officer, HITRUST. “The CSF Certification is now the benchmark that organizations required to safeguard PHI are measured against with regards to information protection.”

Van den Akker further stated, “The unprecedented digital assault on healthcare organizations rightly predisposes every prospective customer to a healthy degree of security skepticism when evaluating a new vendor. The HITRUST certification, in parallel with our own robust security documentation, policies and procedures, and completion of customer-specific assessments, provides customers with evidence of our ongoing priority to safeguard confidential patient information.”
